The Mineralogy Manual

Selected Option:

Every sword that is made, every piece of armor that is fitted, every bolt crafted to be fired from a crossbow, is only possible when the correct components are pulled from the earth. It is often dwarven miners and smiths that pull and combine all of this into the tools that adventurers need to save the realms. While adventures may dive deep with the earth and see the true wonders beneath the surface. While most may desire to live in the sun, there are many who wish to dwell and thrive underground.

Now GM’s and Players alike can:

-          Find the treasures of the earth including Elements, Minerals, Rocks, and Soils.

-          Learn Crafting of the Earth with gemstones, crystals, ores, metals, and unique mechanics.

-          Discover the hollowing of the earth with mines, miners, and the dwarven cities within the earth.

-          Learn of the children of the earth like the dwarven clans, unique locations, and dungeons.

-          Dive into the earth and a collection of 137 pages of dungeons themed around dwarves.

-          Actually, learn and immerse oneself with a 2000 word ready to use dwarven language.

The Mineralogy Manual is a world-building guide to provide Game Masters and Players with the tools to craft their worlds from the ground up (quite literally). The focus of this book is the ground on which we stand - the earth itself and all the wonders it contains. In this 568-page tome, you will find the most comprehensive collection of every component of the earth and has been designed to be extremely easy to learn and use for any tabletop role-playing game, or the foundation for any type of fiction. It can be a fun addition to your long-running game or the start of a brand-new short adventure.

So, this publisher seems to be trying to raise money to fulfill the kickstarter obligations. Based on the price, I'm wondering if each order pays for TWO books, one for the buyer and one for the poor backer waiting for his hardcopy.

I'm a backer and have my PDF of this book ((No hardcopy yet)). If you're interested in D&D and Rocks, it's actually quite good. Not $60 good. Not $150 for the Hardcover good. But worth it if you're the sort of DM who likes to build his worlds from the ground, _down_.

So, in summary, please, everyone, buy this book so the publisher can afford to send me MINE. :)

Looks nice but 80€ for hardcover ? 45€ for pdf ?
Cut the price in half and see the number of buyers x 3...

is this algebra, calculus, chemistry, geology, mineralogy, metallurgy, smelting, blacksmithing, jewelry crafting, chemical/molecular properties on the basics of electronics, all rolled into one?
is it a collection of "Dungeons" based on real-world mines for salt, crystals, metals, elements, and research?
as a textbook on such topics... I would buy it.
yet, the errors in the seller blurb above, scream "Don't".

I was curious too, so I went and checked the publisher's website (https://www.deepdungeongames.com/books) and I found a nice preview (https://85a01c2a-ac7a-458c-b2fe-fd276fd041e5.filesusr.com/ugd/e6e264_9c5d486a249143fcad02ac482c355d14.pdf)
From what I can see, the production value seems very high - which probably explains the price.

FYI: PDF link you gave is 1 time access only. Folks need to go to the publisher website & select the 'preview PDF' option themselves to see the preview.

At the publisher: you're REALLY shooting yourself in the foot by not providing a preview thru DTRPG's site. Yes, your own site is prettier & more usable & yadda yadda... but the simple truth is DTRPG is the single biggest vendor for the market, and most folks are going to be looking at your product HERE, not on your website. At the very least direct people in the product description to your site to check out the preview!

Looking thru the preview though: Alright, this looks legit. Looks to be we have detailed chapters for each of: elements, minerals, metals, ores, crystals, rocks & soils, each broken down into subcategories. So basically exactly what was promised on the tin in terms of being a fantasy minerology resource. Then it looks like we get similar listings for leylines, specific mines, dwarf clans.

You're asking a lot of money for something that doesn't even have a preview....

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
