A group of friends has decided to make a zero budget indie horror movie. But when they gather together to read the script, they instead find themselves trapped in a strange other world known as Carcosa. There, they encounter the untrustworthy inhabitants and the arcane dangers of the place.

Can they discover Carcosa's secrets and escape before the looming apocalypse arrives?

I Pray God Will Curse the Writer is a freeform parlor larp for 6-19 players, inspired by The King in Yellow by Robert Chambers.

Hi all,

I wouldn't download the game from here, as the rules in their current version are incomplete, at least as far as I can tell. The rules at the link below (from the author's website) do a much better job at explaining the various bits of the game and the function/allocation of the Fate and Supplemental cards.

Which parts are missing? It is possible that, in editing and revising the text, something was accidentally removed that should not be. I can update the files to include anything that was mistakenly removed.

It looks like there was some explanatory text I had mistakenly cut out during an editing pass. I've added some new explanation, and I updated the PDF files with the information.

Anyone run this already? What issues/observations did you have? Did you have any pitfalls? What were the best experiences with the game? Running it in Seattle on Nov. 5th, so super excited to hear your feedback. Looks great, and easy for first timers to handle too.

I've run the game several times, and I know it has been run a couple times in New Zealand and Italy (though I don't have much information about those runs).

One thing to watch out for is that people think the game is ending when the King first appears. Make clear to the player playing the King the first time that the game isn't over yet, and they shouldn't take a long time handing out fates and describing the apocalypse.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
