$19.99 for 1/2 of a game on pdf is too much. Why should I spend 40 and only have a pdf when I can spend $63 on amazon and have two actual books? I own the books but it would be nice to have pdf's also, but I'm not paying $40 for them. If this in any indication of the companies future prices I don't know that I will buy any more books. Should include pdf if you buy the books. $30/book in not unreasonable but pdf price is a joke. Real players want the book anyway, pdf is frosting, don't be cheap with the frosting. I like the game, and even own the books and deluxe editions, but no way to the pdf's.

The cost of printing and shipping a book is a relatively minor. Most of the cost comes from writing, editing, art, layout, and proofing. As a consumer, I understand that it feels like we should be paying a lot less for a digital copy of something over a physical copy, but it's simply the case that creating a physical book and getting it out to distributors is relatively inexpensive.

If like you said "creating a physical book and getting it out to the distributors is relatively inexpensive" then to sell a pdf that cost nothing more to produce for an exorbitant amount is just being greedy because it is all profit for you. You didn't pay someone to print it, or pay for materials. You should get something for your ideas and work, but $19.99 for half a game is too much. Anyone who has tried to play a game from pdf knows the print book is way more convenient. You'd get more players/fans for the next book if you didn't drive them away with the prices. This guy is done.

People complaining about multiple books required to play have never actually played D&D, or GURPS, or Deadlands, or pretty much tons of RPGs out there. That being said, for me there's only one Polaris RPG and it's not this one.

Not to mention that there are tons of core rulebooks that cost $40 or more.

Which is crazy for the cost of a PDF.

Looks interesting, but I would like to have a Print copy so I'll hold off purchasing until I can get a Print & PDF bundle.

I got the print copy from Leisuregames up in London and found out that the publisher does not offer a Print & PDF Bundle nor are they signed up to the Bits & Mortar scheme or anything like that. So if you have the print copy the only way to get the PDFs is to pay another £30 for the PDF copies of RB1 & RB2.

Now, seperate to that the game is really interesting, has a great setting, the art is awesome, the books are very well produced. However I rely on having a PDF copy that I can crib bits from to print for players or to include in adventures I'm writing, so the lack of a PDF bundle is extremely disappointing to me and given that the print set of RB1 & RB2 is £70 I am not paying another £30 to get the PDFs.

Ultimately, really interesting looking game but the lack of a PDF included with the, expensive, print set is extremely disappointing.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. We currently do not offer a Bits & Mortar package for Polaris, PDF bundles were available during pre-orders. We are looking into that for future releases. Thank you for taking the time to comment though!

Hi David, any idea when the PDF copy of the Vehicle & Exo Armour sheets will be available? I've been waiting for 3 months for it to become available and have tried chasing for it on Facebook, Twitter & the Polaris RPG but have had no responses to any of my queries, is the PDF of these sheets ever going to be made available to us?

Hi again David, is there anyone at Black Book Editions who is supporting this game? I've tried reaching out on Twitter, Facebook and emailing the contact address on your website, I have been trying once a week for a month and so far have had no response from anyone at your end. All I am trying to find out is when the PDF Character Sheet that includes the Exo Armours & Vehicle pages will be available?

I first asked about this in October 2016 and was told to expect it "Very Soon". As far as I can see not a single update has been posted on any of your social channels since about the end of October 2016 and none of attempts to contact yourselves have yielded results. I must say that it is extremely disappointing for a game this new to stop being supported so quickly.

For anyone who might have been following this, these sheets are now available on DTRPG and hopefully other sites as well.

So ... I need two rulebooks for the price of one other rulebook, just to be able to play this game? -.^

Lots of games actually need several books to be really playable. You could go ahead and play just with the first Core Rulebook, but you won't have any creatures and gear (though you can find some very basic gear in the Quickstart Guide!)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
