Sorry, gonna echo the other comment here, but I had the same confusion with Erdrick's sword too. It's 200k for an item with no special stats or description. Loved every else, just thought that was odd.

In the description of Erdrick's Sword, it doesn't state any special abilities. A shortsword that costs 200,000gp and doesn't have any special abilities? Please explain.

One of the many Easter eggs that the authors used as call-backs to slight flaws and comical portions of the games we played in our youth. Basically, while the sword itself in the NES version of the game was considered one of the most powerful weapons in the game, it was essentially just a golden sword. It had to be used by one of the specific bloodlines (Edrick's, to be exact) in order to be efficient and begins as a rusty sword as well.

That's nice and all, but I bought this for the in-game applications. An Easter Egg is a nice joke, but I'm still left with a supposedly Legendary Weapon that does 1d6 damage and costs 200,000gp with no real explanation of it's powers/abilities. As far as I remember, Dragon Warrior/Quest 1 didn't have an Erdrick's Sword. The strongest sword in DW/Q1 was the Flame Sword. In Dragon Warrior/Quest 2 the Loto Sword was pretty decent when you find it halfway through the game, but you leave it behind in favor of the Light Sword or the Thunder Sword. in Dragon Warrior/Quest 3, the strongest sword that the Hero gets is the King's Sword at near the end of the game. It's never referred to as the Loto/Erdrick's Sword. In Dragon Quest 4, the Legendary Gear switches to the Zenithian brand. The only time it was a Rusty Sword that is improved into the Erdrick's Sword is in Dragon Quest 9. I have not played DQ7 or DQ8 through to the end, but I don't think it makes an appearance there either. All I'm asking for are some Legendary...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
