HEROIC MISSIONS: Deadly Missions 4th Edition

ADD TO WISHLIST >

HEROIC MISSIONS: Deadly Missions 4th Edition takes the world of DEADLY MISSIONS to a whole new level of adventure!  This high quality set of rules features some of our favorite artwork, as well as some new breath-taking characters and NEW rules.

As with all DEADLY MISSIONS games, 4th Edition features randomly generated encounters, map tiles, treasure and equipment tokens each in a stack, or deck, that you flip and bring into play.  This unique and original set of figures and top-down token creatures ensures it is a different game each time you play.

  • NOTE:  This is a CORE RULE BOOK, and although it supercedes the previously released Core Rules (DEADLY MISSIONS: Fantasy Dungeon, Sector 15 or Steam Pirates, Deadly Missions 3rd Edition), ALL existing sets are STILL compatible with Deadly Missions: 4th Edition!

This set includes:

  • Over 40 high quality rendered papercraft figures with front and back images
  • Flooded City Map by GAME TILE WAREHOUSE
  • 46 top-down creature tokens (some repeated)
  • 30 Tresure Chest tokens
  • 26 double-sided Status Tokens
  • 48 Ability Cards
  • 40 characters Data Cards
  • 14 creature Data Cards
  • 4 double-sided Door tokens

This opens up the world of DEADLY MISSIONS to allow Super Heroic Aventures.  We know you are going to LOVE it as much as WE do!

Just bought and went over the PDF. At first I was under the impression that this latest ruleset would be sorta "catchall" for all settings. It seems a bit strange to me that in the file not much is said about setting up games in fantasy settings, even though the product description says it supersedes the previous fantasy rules. Plus the cards, characters, etc. are supposed to be used for superhero (or sci-fi) skirmish games.
So, where can I get the tiles, character cards, and relevant stuff to play a dungeon crawl? The PDF does not introduce other (older?) products in the line and I was confused not knowing where to start from.

The current set (4th Edition) includes *all* of the rules and abilities for Deadly Missions, so this is the best rules set to buy.

The thing that is amazing about Deadly Missions is *every* figure from any set is usable. If you purchase one of the original sets from F1rst Edition, it is still playable in 4th Edition.

The rules are the same for using doors, rooms and characters, there are slight changes from set to set, but those are laid out in the 4th Edition rules (for example, at one point "Flight" was represented as an arrow icon, but now is a colored compass).

If you wanted a lot of creatures, characters and equipment (like legendary swords), I would suggest the Quest Sets. These have gorgeous map tiles, and some really powerful and interesting figures.

After the Portal (2econd Edition), all games are interchangeable, and use the same abilities and rules. To represent this, we try to give a good mix of characters in both hand-drawn and rendered...See more

Thanks a lot for explaining. I went ahead and bought The Portal and Return to Merlantis for cards and tiles. I am also interested in the Quest modules. I just wonder if there is any plot/scenario/adventures in those (and other) sets because I am looking for more than what the rulebook suggests (discover tile X). Any recommendations?

There is no *real* story line, other than the backstory of each set. The Quest Sets introduce certain characters (like Lady Faith and Jack). I asked myself if there were a Deadly Missions movie, who would the characters in it be? That was when I decided to make characters that would make appearances in future sets. If you follow the story of Lady Faith, she starts out as a healer, then becomes a paladin, is corrupted by Quill, and is rescued by Jack and later ends up getting married to Lord Kallenstire, when she becomes Lady Faith Kallenstire. It hasn't been officially announced yet, but while under Quill's influence, she and Abaddon have a child in the 9th Dimension, Lucy Fur. I basically produce small hooks and let the players build their own storyline. I hope this helps.

PUBLISHER
Hello Pietro,

Deadly Missions is designed to be a tabletop skirmish game/ dungeon crawl game that can be played as solo play (using one hero or a 4-6 person party) or a party of multiple players. The game is designed to give you a role-playing experience (or feeling) in a game that lasts about 2 hours. You walk away feeling as if you have completed an entire campaign in one session. The Quest Sets offer rules for games to be connected allowing you to carryover items in future games.

Deadly Missions is a stand alone game, and any mention of other gaming systems is referring to the miniatures and tokens only. There are no rules tie-ins with any other games produced by other publishers.

Thank you for your interest, and feel free to ask as many questions as you want. I will do my best to answer them in a timely manner.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
