1001 Things Sampler #3

Welcome to the "1001 Things" collections!

This is a sampler of 10 entries from each of the third five 1001 Things collections from Wintertree, now available in a bundle (the only way you can get 1001 Slithering Slimes) as well as separately. Even with just ten of each, you have some great additions to your game.

There are 10 Mystical Magic Item Names in here. A +1 dagger is just a +1 dagger. But the Haunted Dagger is something special even if it's still just a +1 dagger, and a name like that is sure to spark a gamemaster's creativity.

Then there are 10 Special Stones. Whirling around a user's head or worn as an amulet, magical stones come in all shapes and descriptions, not to mention effects. So what if the players have memorized every one of them listed in your game rules or online? These are all unique.

Next we come to 10 Curious Coins. Why should that just be "a copper piece" or even "a gold piece"? In the real world, coins from different places have different values, and coins from the past are often even more intriguing. Use these as random coins in a treasure or to set up an entire monetary system.

Ater that, there are 10 Awesome Adventure Names. Published adventures and modules, from the simplest one-page freebie to the most elaborate adventure path, have always had interesting and evocative names. But few GMs run published adventures all the time; some never at all. So here are some titles to inspire your own adventure creation.

Last is the one that's only available in the Bundle #3: 10 Slithering Slimes. Slimes, oozes, blobs, whatever you call them, have always been one of the mainstays of fantasy adventures. But, naturally, game rulebooks don't want to take up dozens of pages detailing each of innumerable possible slimes. So here are some ready to use. Just slap the stats from any similar gooey monster on them, account for their special attacks, vulnerabilities, etc., and you're ready to go.

So spice up your game a bit, and have fun with another batch of Things!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
