43 Space Opera Adventure Seeds - Space Opera Support #6

ADD TO WISHLIST >

No matter how good a gamemaster is, sooner or later they're going to run into a blank when it comes to deciding an adventure for the next session. The great advantage, and sometime the greatest problem, with space opera settings is that the range of adventure possibilities is huge. The sky (indeed, the entire galaxy!) is the limit.

43 Space Opera Adventure Seeds offers just what its name suggests - forty-three different adventure ideas for you to use as a basis for your own scenario. These seeds can be used as-is, combined together with other seeds, or simply used as a springboard for your mind to come up with new and different adventures.

The seeds you will find in this product:

Raising an Army... New Laws... Insect Swarms... Disappearances... Cache of Goodies... Friendly Murder... Communications Blackout... Forgotten Journal... Techno-shock... Ripper's Back... A New Home... Hargon's Pirates... Language Barrier... Special Delivery... Short on Gravity... Prophecy of Doom... Like Looking in a Mirror... Assassination... Terrorist Attack... Do I know you?... Fountain of Immortality... Corporate Stalking... That Way Madness Lies... Salvation or Slavery?... Crime Spree... Toxic Sludge... Under the Hill... Hand Made... Sticky Space... Slave Trade... The Test... Fast Food Recipes... Test Flight... Fight Night... Discovering the World... Virtual World... Ship Graveyard... Hidden Messages... Vampires!?!... Studying Rocks... Ghost Ship... The One... Dead Ringer

43 Space Opera Adventure Seeds can be used with any system

This article originally appeared in the July/August 2020 issue of Freelance Traveller. One of the strengths of Traveller is that it allows the players and referees to adopt their own style of SF campaign, from grittily realisti [...]

As the product name states, author Jason Anderson gives us here 43 adventure seeds for “space opera” games. Almost all of them could easily be adapted for Star Wars, Traveller, Star Trek, even Serenity or Farscape. If you run any game where travel [...]

Very disappointing, most seeds (43 spread over 8.5 pages) were like they were copied from a fantasy or modern seed book and were completely inappropriate for space opera (only 6 seeds involved something like spaceships). I counted at most 14 seeds that [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
