Underground Tomb

Fowl air rises from a hole in the earth, skirted by crumbling, sunlit  ruins. It brings the scent of death, damp, and decay—so out of place in  the lush green of the exterior world…

Deep below,  sarcophagi sprawl—many of them, cracked open, and looted. A stone statue  watches solemnly over the grave of a hero, the surrounding, muddy  waters strewn with the bones of lost adventurers.

Skeletons hang limp on breathless air, hung by great, thorny vines from the boughs of a once-great tree, now long dead.

And locked away, deep within its heart, burns a mysterious, purple flame…

Adventure Seeds

  • Long ago, there was a great war waged by a lich who held the power  of resurrection in his hands—a burning, purple flame. Many died, but  eventually the war was won, and the Flame of Resurrection locked away  deep, deep underground. Once, guards were placed outside the temple,  until eventually the myth faded into obscurity, and the temple into  ruin.

Now, a cultist has found entrance into the tomb, and begun to  use the Flame for her own purposes—first resurrecting the bones of those  within, and then sending her minions to attack the nearby village. Once  dead, she plans on resurrecting those, too—and building an army, to  conquer the known world.

You have been paid by the chief of the  endangered village to help prevent this terrible eventuality by going to  the source, and killing the cultist. Her undead minions have been  tracked here—to an underground tomb.
  • The elder of a village  has paid you to enter an ancient, crumbling tomb, deep underground, in  search of a seemingly dead tree. The tree, he claims, was the  grandfather of an ancient tree that once stood over their graveyard, as  guardian—but the tree was lost in a fire. He now needs a sample from the  original tree, to plant and nurture into new growth. But, unbeknownst  to the living, deadly vines have begun to grow over the original tree,  choking any foolish enough to wander within reach of their grasping  thorns...
  • A woman claiming to be a cleric has paid your party  to guard her while she enters an underground tomb, and resurrects her  lost love—who lies at the feet of a great, stone statue. But terrible  monsters lurk within the darkness, and she cannot be distracted while  preforming the resurrection.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
