HighFell: The Drifting Dungeon is a 246-page classic megadungeon for use with any old school fantasy role-playing games/clone. The pages of HighFell are crammed full with new material, maps, and art, including a colour cover by Ex-TSR artist Erol Otus (that matches Barrowmaze Complete and The Forbidden Caverns of Archaia as sister-books).

HighFell: The Drifting Dungeon will keep your players on their toes and your campaign going strong for years.

HighFell is brought to you by the Old School Renaissance (so don’t forget your 10’ pole).

Note that there is no preview as the download is a folder containing the pdf as well as the HighFell hexmaps in Black and Old School Blue.

I'm currently transferring the maps to a format I can import them into Foundry and use for games, and I've noticed something possibly-odd; in tower 10, floor 1, rooms 5 and 6 seem to be entirely inaccessible from the tower's other rooms; are players intended to travel up through the moon door from the underside of HighFell to reach them? Or is the map missing a door/hidden door/illusory wall? So far the text seems to have been reasonable about mentioning those where appropriate, or when odd measures are required to reach an area, so it seems likelier it's a mistake in the map than the text?

Still, so far this seems pretty well-designed.

Does this come with the maps that can be used as player maps in VTTs (ie no room numbers, no secret doors, etc)

I'd buy this, but I don't want to imbricate Mr. Gillespie with my woke nonsense

Really want to get this, but unsure of the quality of the printing. Is it stitch bound? Have you used it much and is it holding together?

Hi Greg, wondering if there's been an update to the hardcover POD. Looking to get a copy to go right next to Barrowmaze and Archaia on my shelf. Cheers!

He has a Kickstarter going now and if you pick one tier, you can receive a hardcover copy of two of the books. But you have to be willing to throw down $120 ($150+ CA). Sorry for wasting your time already if you knew this. Followed this discussion in hopes it comes out soon, too. I can't afford the $120 either. hehe.

What happend to the print version? It was available for 66 dollars yesterday, and now I log in to buy it but its gone. I wanted to buy this with The Forbidden Caverns of Archaia and Gunderholfen, but now I can't order all of them, i'd like to save on shipping so please put the print version back on :)

Just wondering if you were planning on doing GM screen inserts for this dungeon as well? I love the ones for the previous two.

If you like old school dungeon crawls, this is worth checking out. It is quite similar in tone and style to Gillespie's other efforts, meaning you get a ton of content, lots of maps (not always easy to follow/connect), lots of cool old school images, new monsters, assorted factions albeit not always well fleshed out, plenty of treasure (including gem sizes & quality), and a fair amount of typos. As others have noted, there are numerous references to the author's other modules, including directives to find monster stats there. A trifle annoying, but since I own those and have every intention of buying any future products he produces, it doesn't bother me much. It's true that the "ground setting" of the adventure isn't terribly well developed. But to me, that's not a problem since I'm dropping it into my home campaign setting anyhow. In fact, the drifting aspect is great because you can put it anywhere you want. It also makes this megadungeon a bit more modular than the others in terms of being...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
