Fantasy Archetypes

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This product is designed for home printing, and contains eight ready-to-play Savage Worlds characters, for use in most fantasy settings: Warrior, mage, cleric, rogue, ranger, paladin, druid and necromancer.

Each character has five different stat blocks, one for each rank. You can select the rank by choosing the appropriate layer in your PDF reader (a second download is available for PDF readers that don't support layers). There are also two different illustrations per character (male and female), each on a separate page, so the PDF can be printed double-sided and players can choose which side of their sheet they wish to use. Tri-fold figure flats are included on the final page.

Will these characters be compatible with the new Pathfinder for Savage Worlds?

No, they're designed for the Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE), and they'd require some changes to be used with Savage Pathfinder (mostly the Edges, and an attribute boost for humans). Note that Savage Pathfinder isn't open to third-party publishers, so this isn't something I'm allowed to offer.

Pinnacle does have some Savage Pathfinder Archetype Cards you could use though:

Hey, just bought the Fantasy Archetypes!
I really love these Artworks, which was the main reason for me to buy them.

Are there more Archetypes for different Setting with amazing character art like this?

Also is there a chance to get the art, where it is not super small (the figure-flats)? The bigger ones are faded to white behind the statblock.

The art is by Forrest Imel, you can purchase it directly from his DriveThruRPG publisher page: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/11550/Forrest-Imel-Stock-Art

He's created some additional fantasy characters, which I plan to use in a future product, but he hasn't covered any other genres.

Are the archetypes for SWADE? or Deluxe?

They’re for SWADE. In fact, the SWAG license only allows publication of SWADE products, so everything with the Community Content symbol should be for the latest edition of Savage Worlds.

Great, thanks. Sorry about the confusion... for some reason I wasn't making the SWAG connection.

Loving it!!! This is how I wish that all Archetypes where done. Any chance we could get a version where the parchment behind the game stats block can be toggled in a layer?

Glad you like the archetypes! The parchment layer is a question that's come up before, but after some discussion (and printing comparisons in both color and black & white), the consensus was that it's better off left as it is.

Visible layers are drawn on top of each other, so if you enabled multiple statblocks, they'd normally be superimposed over each other (making the text unreadable). I worked around this problem by adding the parchment behind the stats on each layer, so that it automatically covers the text on the lower layers.

The alternative would be to make the user actively switch off the layers they weren't currently using, which is certainly possible -- but I've found it confuses some people (to the point of being reported as a mistake), and it doesn't look as professional.

There's also the issue of layout. Without the parchment, the lower ranked statblocks would have a big empty gap before the "Backstory Interludes" section, and it looks like a formatting...See more

would it be possible to get a copy with each rank on its own page? I use a chromebook and Android tablet primarily and neither does PDF layers. This means I can only see the novice version of each pregen.
Thanks!

I've uploaded a second version that doesn't use layers, enjoy!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
