[Savage Worlds] Improbable Tales: Against the Sky Pirates!

ADD TO WISHLIST >

So - let’s establish three things:

  1. Jetpacks are wicked cool,
  2. Savage Worlds feels like a game where you should be punching crooks in jetpacks,
  3. and, jetpacks are far too underutilized given how wicked cool they are.

We're setting out to remedy that with this adventure - which features a gang of jetpack equipped Dieselpunk ruffians doing crimes and in dire need of smiting by the savage fist of justice.

Against the Sky Pirates! is a short scenario, designed to be played in an evening or two. It's also designed to be quick-starting and fast-playing. Towards that end, there are seven pre-gen heroes to get the game rolling quickly.

This adventure is complete in itself - but does contain some references to the setting in the Super Villains Handbook.

This adventure has been written to use Savage Worlds Adventure Edition. So, SWADE is required to use this adventure. However, no companion books are required.

Everyone loves jetpacks, right? And, with that given, what could be cooler than pirates wearing jetpacks? That’s the central conceit of the Against the Sky Pirates, a Savage Worlds adventure by Fainting Goat Games.

It’s clear the designers (Mike Lafferty, Jason Tondro, Bryanna Hitchcock) are fans of the genre, and their text is fun and lively, written in a casual style that makes it easy and enjoyable to read the adventure.

This in an adventure in three scenes. The premise is simple: a gang of modern-day buccaneers, the jetpack wearing Sky Pirates, need to be brought to justice, and our eagle-scout-evil-fighters are tapped with the task. A tip that suggests the thieves will next be targeting a swanky outdoor fundraising event sees the characters going undercover as wait staff. The resulting fight likely leads to an exciting aerial chase (cause, what’s cooler than strapping on a jetpack and throwing punches midflight?) that culminates aboard the pirates’ plane. The adventure does...See more

There are two files to download. The file names are Pirate_Final_SW and SWADE_Sky_Pirate_Final. I haven't found what's different between the two files yet. Which one is actually the final version? Thanks!

The files are identical except for the credits page. Apologies for the confusion. The new file is the one that starts with Pirate. I thought I had deleted the older file. I'll do that new.

Thanks!

BTW, both files are still there. This isn't the first time I've seen this happen. I even remember one publisher saying he had to log in as a non-publisher before he could even see the multiple files. One possible solution is to put the date of the update in the file name so users can tell at a glance which one is more recent.

OK - yeah - I'll do that and I'll let publisher relations at DTRPG know. Sorry for the hassle!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
