Dungeon Delver's Toolkit

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Savage Worlds is a great system, but it’s not great for old-school dungeon delves.

How many of you Savages have heard that before? How many of you have said it? Well, it simply isn’t true.

The Dungeon Delver’s Toolkit is a collection of simple Setting Rules that will help to lend an old school fantasy feel to your SWADE games.

Inside you’ll find:

  • A system of Breaks and Breathers designed for delvers  to keep them moving through the long corridors of the most dangerous dungeon.  The system will also feel very familiar to those coming into SWADE from some other very popular fantasy RPGs.

  •  A system of Fancy Combat Maneuvers which allow more freedom of action in combat.

  • An easy to use Setting Rule called Arcane Fatigue to bring an old school feel to the magical Arcane Backgrounds.  This includes a new Hindrance and a couple Edges.

Whether you use these ideas to convert players who enjoy the popular RPGs, or to just bring some ‘1st Edition’ feel to your Savage game table, you will find something useful for your next Savage fantasy game. Use one, some or all of these ideas, whatever suits your table the best.

It’s Savage Worlds, after all. You can do what you want.

Arcane Warrior Master.
"She may also hold a single handed melee weapon when casting with no penalties." There is no mention of a penalty in relation to weapons, only to the toughness bonus of armor worn. Must the spellcasters hands be free to cast a spell? It looks like some clarification is needed here.

Good ideas that we'll surely have lots of fun with.
Can't quite figure the point of the Arcane Warrior Master Edge - is there a penalty to wielding weapons, that I haven't found?
Cheers

This is great! Such a simple conversion of something so useful for that genre of gaming. Only question I have is that where the booklet refers to characters needing '1 ration and 1 water' during either a Breather or a Break. As said items don't appear explicitly as such in the Adventurer's Edition in the Gear section (save for 'Trail Rations' as the closest item).

Hey buddy, thanks for the comments. I am truly grateful that you like it. When referring to '1 ration, 1 water', it's kind of assumed that your campaign is tracking that sort of thing. I like to use Simplified Encumbrance and, as such, simplified rations and water. (Savage Worlds isn't so much a resource tracking game.) When you buy rations and get water, you usually get 3 days worth, or whatever. It's implied you'd use one of those.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
