Eat the Rich: Revolution!

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Eat the Rich is a collection of anti-capitalist adventures for 5e. Each original adventure dives into classic D&D tropes, and puts a new spin on them. Tackling issues of workers’ rights, health care, the prison industrial complex, the environment, animal rights, agriculture and more, these adventures will make you passionate to join the revolution!

The Eat the Rich series started life as a bestselling DMs' Guild anthology, but because of the political nature of the content has found a new format and a new home. From July 2020, the Eat the Rich team will be releasing a zine full of brand new adventures each month, each issue arranged around a theme within anticapitalism.

This month's issue, "Eat the Rich: Revolution!" features 4 original adventures in a 60-page colour PDF. The series features work by a global team of new and established designers and artists.

Content Warning

While most of these adventures don't come with specific content warnings, it's safe to assume that they will deal with exploitation of workers, marginalized communities, or other people. Many are violent, as is common in fantasy TTRPGs. As always, talk to your group and use appropriate safety tools.

If this is Anti-Capitalist why isn't this free? I know the author has to make a living but does anyone else find this ironic? Isn't this is cognitive dissonance?

It's not cognitive dissonance at all.

There are honestly many reasons why this isn't dissonant, hypocritical, or ironic.

1) The authors needs to survive in a capitalist world wherein we die if we do not have the funds to pay for our survival
2) Anti-capitalism isn't about "not making money" but fighting against Capitalism, which is a system that allows for a capital-owning class that is separate from a working class. The authors of this book are performing work with their authorship.
3) One doesn't actually need to adhere to an ideology in order to make an RPG based upon it
4) Anti-capitalist doesn't mean free or mean "everything is free"

Just finished reading through this and I love it! The variety between the adventures when it comes to the revolutionary era it relates to is very cool.

>makes a game about "Capitalism bad! Communism Good!" adventures.
> makes it for the game that has THE monopoly on roleplaying games, from a company who is notorious for their bad business practices for freelance designers and their "check the box diversity" hires and stuff (allegedly.)
> charges money instead of pay what you want, or make it free for the proletariat.

the best example of Irony, not gonna lie.

Is this a sequel to Eat the Rich Volume 1? These authors don't seem to be listed in the list of authors for that, but the description isn't very clear and it's odd that this is on dtrpg vs the DMG store where Eat the Rich Vol 1 shows up.

It's new material. The original EtR anthology was apparently too hot for WotC to handle, even though it hit "#1 on the site’s bestseller list," as the editor puts it. So they're releasing the remainder as Zines, a few at a time for less money, on DTRPG, until they run out of adventures.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
