Gunsmithing 101 provides several options to detail and customize modern weapons in your Savage Worlds game. 

  • New Accessories: Make your rifle easier to handle with a Collapsible Stock, add a bit more control over shooting your SMG with a Foregrip, mount a Taclight on your handgun to reduce those pesky darkness penalties, and more!
  • New Ammo: Stop them in their tracks with Beanbag rounds or Taser rounds for your shotgun, penetrate their armor with Armor-Piercing or Flechette rounds, or make sure that you have an opponent to interrogate later by using Less Lethal rounds. 
  • New Qualities: Several new qulities to apply to your weapons. 
  • New Firearms: Six new firearms for use in your firearm-inclusive campaign including stats for the ADS Amphibious Rifle!

I found it odd that there's nothing for increasing or decreasing Ammo count. It's assuming we modify an existing weapon but also has base statistics for guns as if making one from scratch.

Yes, this is designed based on SWADE.

It probably wouldn’t be too hard, if even necessary, to convert to earlier editions.

Overall I very much enjoyed reading this. However, I do have a few remarks:

1. As another user here has mentioned, there's a big clearing spelling error. Anti-Material is written with an "e" or Anti-Materiel.
2. Would you mind adding a table for Shotguns, or at least a way to reference the base cost?
3. As far as I can tell, your only allowed to take Improved Penetration once, but you've listed two samples that have taken it twice?
4. Regards to the Damage progression chart. 2d4+2 and 2d6, for example, has the same average damage output. This means your not actually progression from one value to the next. I don't know whether this was intentional or not, though, but I would change the table into ingrements of +1 instead. Currently there's no real reason to go above +2.

Other than that its a very good product and has become quite valuable for my modern setting game.

Looks like Anti-Materiel is actually written with an E in English, my mistake. However, I did notice under DECREASED DAMAGE that it should state "decreased" instead of increased.

Thanks for the comments. and points. I'm working on an update to address those.

Regarding the progression, I was trying to match, as close as possible, the damages of the existing SWADE weapons. The 2d4+2 ends up with a higher minimum damage while the 2d6 ends up with a higher Maximum damage. I know those 2 points won't usually make a lot of difference though. I'll see what I can figure out for the update...

for the most part, this is a pretty good read and could be helpful to the enterprising GM. Buyer beware --- there are a handful of spelling and grammatical errors.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
