Wild wind hisses through frosty sagebrush. Knife-sharp clouds cross a blazing white moon. In the quaking aspens that fringe the foothills, a shivering clatter draws the traveler with its siren song. Danger is everywhere, even in plain view.

Welcome to Wyoming Territory, amigo! It’s a place of wonder and beauty, but it ain’t for the faint of heart.

Horror at Headstone Hill is a sandbox campaign setting, fully detailing this small section of Deadlands: The Weird West. As the heroes unravel the main campaign storyline they’ll find themselves drawn into all manner of exciting adventures in and around Uinta County, Wyoming. It includes a handy booklet for players, the 128-page Horror at Headstone Hill book, maps, detailed player handouts, and creature cards.

Horror at Headstone Hill requires the Deadlands: The Weird West core book, and the Savage Worlds core rules to play.

As a publisher, I can't post an official review of this product, but I can give my thoughts here:

This scenario is probably my favorite Deadlands campaign. It's not as far-reaching or epic in scope as the Servitor campaigns of the last decade, but I actually think that adds to the atmosphere and makes the world feel bigger.
It is a sandbox game set in a Wyoming county, with a major emphasis on the titular town. NPCs are described at length, and there are multiple sinister conspiracies that the characters must stop. The singular location is actually a great bonus for game groups with irregular attendance, as there are plenty of in-game reasons why a local resident may be absent for certain adventures and present for others, which wouldn't make sense in a campaign over a large area/full region.
The events around town have a definitive conclusion, but the campaign style gives players and marshals a lot of agency in getting there, and the pacing is just about perfect. The BBEG is sufficiently...See more

There doesn't seem to be a separate town map as a handout, is that intentional? it is a bit weird that there is a nice county map, and the book tells the GM about handing out that and the town map, but the latter has to be cut out of the GM book.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
