Cyberpunk RED

Welcome to the Time of the Red, Choomba! The Megacorporations spent decades wrecking everything and in the aftermath of their last War, everyone has to fend for themselves.

A man with a cyberarm and a cowboy hat walks through a Night Market, exploring what's for sale.

But that’s just fine. You can handle it. After all, in a world of vicious boostergangs, rampaging cyborgs, corporate assassins, and nihilistic doomsday cults, there’s only one rule: Always take it to the Edge.

Take the big risks, get the big rewards. Be the action, start the rebellion, light the fire. Never drive slow when you can blaze a trail.

You’ve hooked your Militech pistol to the interface in your brain; upgraded your cybernetic fist with carbo-glas blades; and installed cybereyes that can pierce through the red haze like morning fog. There’s a world full of opportunities out there, just waiting for the right Edgerunner. Maybe that’s you.

Three edgerunners cautiously make their way down a corridor during an infiltration mission.

Cyberpunk RED is the latest edition of the classic tabletop roleplaying game of the Dark Future and encompasses everything you need to explore the post-War world of the Time of the Red, including:

  • A dense, deep-dive into the history and geography of Night City and the greater Cyberpunk world, and plenty of the lore about the Time of the Red.
  • Ten unique Roles for you to play: charismatic Rockerboys, lethal Solos, quick-hacking Netrunners, inventive Techs, lifesaving (and taking) Medtechs, hard-hitting Medias, duty-bound Lawmen, scheming Execs, clever Fixers, and range-riding Nomads.
  • A huge collection of useful tools, powerful weapons, protective armor, and gleaming cyberware to help you rule the Street.
  • Three Screamsheet adventures to show you what Cyberpunk is all about.
  • Pregenerated opponents perfect for populating the Combat Zones and Corporate compounds, plus encounters that use them to bring the City to life.

Want to try out Cyberpunk RED but not ready to take the big plunge? We've got you covered. Check out the Cyberpunk RED Jumpstart Kit, the perfect introduction to the Cyberpunk universe. Or, if you want to go classic, you can always pick up the legendary previous edition of this game, Cyberpunk 2020.

Additionally, play now on Virtual TableTop!

One of the screamsheet adventures in Cyberpunk Red is available now for play — FREE! — on Astral TableTop. The QuickStart comes with pregenerated characters and character sheets wired up for automated rolling. It also offers the GameMaster some guidance on playing the scenario on Astral for those GMs new to Astral or new to virtual tabletops (VTT).

Hey there, special question:

I have both Cyberpunk RED and the Cyberpunk 2077 Game, and I'm currently writing a long suggestion post for CP77 that I intend to put on the CDPR forum.
Some of the concepts that I'd like to suggest for the video game come from the book or take influence from it.
So the question is, am I allowed to list these suggestions/describe them in my own words, denoting influence?
(of course no copypaste, artwork imagery or the like)

Also in that light, i have a few questions on how netrunning works in the book;
Im not quite sure on how to imagine it, is your avatar somewhat like an 'astral projection' of you moving through cyberspace, separate from your meat body? Or do they move in sync?
The 'Augmented Reality' - can you see meatspace-people in another room trough the eyes of your avatar your meatspace-you cannot see?

There are FB groups and Reddit groups designed to answer questions just like this, but I'll give it a shot.

The avatar and meat body don't really move in sync. If they did, then the runner's body would move out of range of the access point, and be forcibly jacked out (and get nailed by Black Ice way too often).

As for seeing meatspace in another room, it is possible through the Control Action of a security camera control node. The runner does need to meet the appropriate DV for controlling it, through.

For additional questions, see, and check out YouTube. Specifically, JonJonTheWise and CyberpunkUncensored. The latter has a video specifically explaining the netrunner role, and another video where he performs a sample netrun with one of his players.

Hi there! You're always free to post homebrew content on public forums. Please do not duplicate text from our books, however.

In Netrunning, your movements in meat space and virtual space are not synchronized. Your Virtuality goggles allow you to monitor both the real world and NET space at the same time but they are not geographically linked. The NET Architecture you see via your Virtuality Goggles is a visual representation of the system.

Hello. will there be a German Translation of RED? I have so far found only the Jumpstart kit in German which is to be released on 31.01.2021. I would rather have the whole rulebook in German.

There will be. Truant is currently working on the translation.

What is the Base SP (Stopping Power) on different vehicles? It seems the only mention of SP on vehicles is the Armored Chassis (SP 15), but I wanted to know if other vehicles, Nomad and City Owned (e.g. Max TAC and Trains) had differing base SP values.

My first session was a great success and the players enjoyed getting into fights with Synthcoke dealers and stealing Synthcoke from a different Synthcoke dealer, thank you for making this!

Vehicles do not, by default, have armor. It has to be added. SP 15 is the standard armor rating but feel free to add more or less if you feel the scenario calls for it. Glad to know your first session went well!

Any plans to go print on demand with this? I really want this new edition but I want a physical copy, not a PDF. Any idea if that's coming?

Books in our active lines (Witcher and Cyberpunk RED) aren't available as PoD. We're in the process of a second printing and will get it to stores, including the RTG webstore, as soon as possible.

We're currently in the middle of running a second printing of the book. No ETA on the date when it will hit stores, yet.

Has anyone seen the print version available yet in the UK/Europe? Still shows as pre-order most places I check...
Customer avatar
R. Talsorian Games, Inc. C January 11, 2021 1:25 pm UTC
The book has shown up on the continent itself in various locations, though sellers might have run through the stock that has gotten through customs. COVID and Brexit have delayed the release in the UK. As far as we're aware, it is still in a shipping container waiting to be cleared through customs but that's entirely in the hands of Asmodee UK and not us now.

How does multiple netrunners in a single architecture work? In particular, how does jacking out influence the architecture? Can two allied netrunners "tag in" with each other to jack out without resetting the system? Does a netrunner defending their own system need to jack out after booting an intruder to reset everything? The book doesn't really provide any examples, assuming I didn't miss any.

Now to engage in the age old discipline of "new edition fever" where suddenly my brand spanking new 2020 game needs an upgrade because RED does something I like.

Oh the humanity!

Hello. Talsorian games family if I own 2020/revised what or if I need red?
Customer avatar
Nestor V January 01, 2021 12:51 pm UTC
If You let me respond: Revised and simplificated systems.
- Autofire and netrunning has stopped to be a pain.
- Martial arts are revised too. They are not now a bunch of stats, but a pair of special moves. (Badside only 4 arts in the book and the moves have pretty prerequisites.)
- Economy system has been revised and now "Ride the Eurodolar" is hardest.
If you liked the oficial seeting, the story advances and you can discover what happen with Arasaka family and others.
And for the punchline: Some New badass quotes totally worthy of CP2020.

I forgot this one. Numbers and mechanics are pretty similar to others Interlocks-Fuzion books. So you can easily export all you like to others game. Be a cyber Witcher is no problem.

Netrunning has had a major revision also.

This is a new edition of the game with the changes Nestor V noted. You can absolutely play Cyberpunk 2020 (and many people do!) but if you're new to TRPGs or Cyberpunk in general, you might find RED an easier game to get into, mechanically.

In the core book, there are basically no rules regarding stealth other than a basic perception v. stealth check. I can infer bonuses such as a failed perception check removing the ability to evade an attack causing a free melee or guaranteed vs DV roll on ranged, etc.
Will there be an overhaul for stealth in a future expansion? Being a stealthy Edgerunner seems like the way to go in terms of keeping yourself alive in Red's setting but right now, the support just isn't there for it.

Hi! Again! xD

Some questions about Implanted Linear Frame (Sigma), whose description is: "An enhanced skeleton and support structure with hydraulic and myomar muscles"

1 - Is it an internal addition to the normal skeleton and muscles or is it a complete replacement?

2 - Is it completely visible, is it hidden, or is it partially visible?

3 - What is the additional weight of the implant?

Some visual reference would be nice.

As you describe it, I'm imagining a really internal implant, with some parts visible here and there. Maybe like elbows, knees, parts of the spine or some bones in the hand, heel, something like that.

PS: Thank you for you patiante and replies!^__^/

R. Talsorian Games, Inc. C December 23, 2020 3:25 pm UTC
Hey there. A linear frame resembles a suit of contoured metal body armor. The frame is grafted onto your body, while the systems are directly nuerolinked to your muscles and bones. Weight wise, they likely add at least a hundred pounds if not two. Some of the frame might be "under the skin", directly welded to the bone lace, but enough would be visible to make it clear you've got it.

It seems very good. The only thing i am not liking so far is that there isn't any variation between weapons. They all feel the same. There is also a complete absence of bio-ware and nano-ware implants. It really needs some more source books to add more stuff to the game. The combat rules are not as pulpy as the other game was. THey really don't encourage you to jump off walls during your turn.

Leandro B December 23, 2020 1:43 pm UTC
For a basic book it is difficult to have a wide range of equipment. After all, he has to cover the normal rules, character creation, description of the setting, description of Night City, the implants ... it's a lot. Eventually, if all goes well, i believe that we will see more equipment in other books. Maybe something similar to Chrome books from Cyberpunk 2020.
Customer avatar

They have already said that the first sourcebook will be Black Chrome, a book about stuff and how you get it."

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
