Come Home... to the Dream House.

On a snowy winter's evening, an elderly friend needs help finding something he's lost. He’s preparing a cozy dinner as a way of saying thanks. Isn't it nice to see familiar faces again?

Can you help him find what he’s lost? Are you sure that you want to?

This is not your classic Haunted House tale…

In honor of the 40th anniversary of Call of Cthulhu, this one-shot scenario pays tribute to classic scenario The Haunting. It's not necessary to have run or played that scenario to enjoy Dream House. Fans both familiar and unfamiliar with it will find themselves in for a spectral treat.

This 31-page scenario is easily playable in 3-5 hours, in person or online. Key information is presented in bulleted lists for ease of use during the game. The scenario includes:

  • Advice on running the scenario, including notes on pacing and potential character deaths
  • Color blueprints of the house with convenient hand-out versions
  • Full stats for villains and NPCs
  • Six pre-generated investigator character sheets (downloaded separately from the PDF)
  • An Audio Handout in mp3 format with an instrumental song arranged specifically for use with this scenario, by Dr. Cameron Hays.

Evan Perlman has organized and written for the best-selling Occupation Kit bundle for Call of Cthulhu, is the author of a forthcoming city sourcebook for Chaosium, has written multiple best-selling adventures and supplements for 7th Sea (2nd ed), and is a writer for the upcoming game Haunted West by Darker Hue Studios.

Now available in PRINT with a bonus scenario by Jon Hook!

As an Electrum Best Seller, Dream House is now available in Print on Demand. In the style of the old Ace Double Paperbacks, we've decided to offer it alongside another sequel to the Haunting, Of Wrath and Blood by Jon Hook. Once you've finished one scenario, flip the book over and read the other!

Why don't you take a tour of the new House?

Though I'm a Keeper 99% of the time, I had the distinct pleasure of having Al Smith run this for me and several others during the 2022 Miskatonic Repository Con. As a player, I loved this. There were enough fun echoes to the original 'The Hau [...]

I really enjoyed running "Dream House" for my investigators. The story is good and the scenario is well written and user friendly. "Dream House" is a creative and interesting reimagining of "The Haunting." I was really [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
