All Gates Lead to Sig

Sig is the nexus of the multiverse, where eternal planes and infinite primes meet. It’s a rough home for cutters and bashers, hungry for coin and glory. It’s a city of gods, demons, and stranger things which lurk. It’s a place where opposites meet, trading knives and kisses in equal measure.

The Silent Regent once ruled over the city with a bladed fist. Now her throne sits empty and the criminal factions battle for control. They dispatch crews of Freebooters, clever and bold, to further their schemes. This is where you come in.

In Sig: City of Blades, you will play the Freebooters in service to once of the mighty city factions. Your faction depends on you to perform vital missions to seize territory and coin from their rivals. This is a game about clever spies, renegade sorcerers, and reckless smugglers. You are the best of the best and the worst of the worst.

This game contains...

  • An adapted version of the Forged in the Dark system ready to discover including an infamy system, mechanically robust consequences, and a reworked vision of stress.
  • Complex world-building inspired by plenty of works of planar fantasy such as Planescape, Kill Six Billion Demons, and Saga.
  • A selection of planar lineages your characters can come from stoneborn Giants to Aesigilar sentient tatoos.
  • A variety of cultures such as passionate Firehearts, rebellious Anarchs or reckless Innovators.
  • A set of fierce Powers to devote your soul to such as Ferrelux the Whisperer, Magtak the Clockwork Page, or Eater-of-Worlds.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sig: City of Blades is a cosmopolitan planar fantasy heist roleplaying game, adapted from Blades in the Dark. This is a game where your crew of bold Freebooters fights over territory, status, and bloody coin. Now let's go steal immortality from the Vault of Heaven.

This might be a strange question, but I'm looking for a system that is not the 5th edition of the world's most popular tabletop roleplaying game to run a Planescape campaign with. And I love BitD. I get the feeling this might be a natural fit -- is tht accurate?

That is the goal overall. Sig: City of Blades is planar fantasy with a focus on faction politics and heists, while Sig: Manual of the Primes is more general in focus and empowers more planar exploration and interpersonal shenanigans.

The preview appears to be just a sample character or something.

A table of contents and a few more sample pages would be very nice to see and is usually what I base my buy decisions on when trying a new author

My apologies; I have enabled the full PDF preview however it doesn't seem to be working properly on the site.

Thanks for replying. The new format is buggy on my tablet...that might be the problem on my end.

The Character sheet file seems to have a bunch of text overlapping itself in the bottom section?

So how does this differ from Sig: Manual of the Primes? Is this a modual of it? A version with a different system base? I own a SMoP, so wondering how it all fits together.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Different system altogether. This is about heists in a Planescape-like setting. I've never played Manual of the Primes, but from what I can read about it, it seems that is more group storytelling and philosophy-based

How is this not a copyright infringement? Sig - Sigil, nexus city?

Sig has been around for YEARS.

1, it would not be a copy right enfringement, because none of the content is copied.

2. Sig, so far as it relates to Sigil, would fall into the legal catagory of "knock off" which is entirely legal.

3. If WotC thought it violated their trade marks, it has had plenty of time to take action.

That all said, Sig is actually very much a different setting, original in many ways and interesting in its own right.

You trying to run a peel, cutter? Sigil's been around for years, too (26 of 'em, by my count) and Sig's been around for less than that. 'Sides, Sig's creators specifically listed D&D's Planescape Campaign setting (home to Sigil) as one of their inspirations on the Sig: Manual of the Planes Kickstarter page. It's safe to say they drew on it, especially since they know the cant.

Like you say, though, this isn't necessarily copyright infringement. (We'd best bar that talk, lest the hardheads catch the chant of it.) One work of fantasy can hew mightily close to another without legally being a knock-off, after all.

I don't know where you get the idea I am denying the author was inspired by the Cage, Basher. Merely layin out the dark of it, which is this. Sig is Square and none of the powers have said it can't be, so it is Square their too.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
