This will make your life easier

Using images and fonts from the Creative Commons domain and a lot of time and effort, I produced these 15 documents that can be used during the investigations of the '' Crimson Letters '' Scenario. Some of them have more than one variation, totaling 34 files, and you can choose the one that best suits your adventure.

In the PDF file, I explain in detail how I think these Handouts can be used to enrich the original script.

This Contains:

>An anonymous repudiation letter to Fallon (written by Emilia Court) about Leiter's abuses;

>A half-burned page of Leiter's diary, reporting on the invasion of the cottage, Hunter's internment, and the disappearance of the Documents;

>Two variations of a ''farewell letter'' from Leiter to Lucy, citing the hidden safe in his house;

>A hastily written autopsy report by Dr John Weathcroft on Charles Leiter's corpse;

>Two variations of a telegram from Abner Wick to Leiter about the danger the Papers pose (one of them still cites Keziah Mason and the Curse);

>Two variations of the Unconsidered Trifles Business Card, with a handwritten note by Abner Wick himself;

>A love letter from Lucy Stone, which shows her address;

>A receipt for the services provided by the locksmith in repairs to the cottage;

>Another part of Leiter's diary, citing facts prior to the adventure;

>Cecil Hunter's Admission Form to Arkham Sanatorium;

>Three variations of Invoices about Leiter's spending at an Atlantic City hotel/casino;

>Two variations of a newspaper obituary reporting the death of widow Lucy Stone;

>Four variations of a telegram from the Sanatorium reporting Cecil Hunter's death under very peculiar conditions;

>Two variations of Abner Wick's letters inviting investigators to dinner;

>Three variations of a note describing a spell to ''banish'' Horror, including one in Emilia Court's handwriting (if she's the culprit).

(The technical description of the spell is also contained in the package.)

If it helps you, or pleases you in any way, know that I would be very grateful if you could pay for it, it was two long months of work and a reward for it would be very welcome.

Any chance to have the handouts released as pdfs in the next update (along with updated the addresses on some of the handouts to fall in line with the new Arkham sourcebook, as you have Uncondsidered Trifles as being located at 45 Boundry St, where as the new Arkham source book as it as 240A W Church Street). Overall though this is a great resource for those keepers who may want to run Crimson Letters.

I will note the idea of releasing it in PDF for the next version, along with the address correction. Unfortunately I ended up getting involved in other things and didn't have time to work on version 3, but I intend to release it by July.

I will probably release a new version before the end of the year. I'm currently quite busy with bigger projects, but I already have some fixes in mind for a third version.

Alas there are too many issues with the handouts that aren't copies of the original story. Some examples:
Cecil Hunter's Admission Form to Arkham Sanatorium includes "Bipolar Affective Disorder" a term not used until 1980s.
Obituary for Lucy. who would pay for such? It would make more sense to be newspaper report of suspicious death.
Leiter has Hunter committed before securing the documents. Again this make no sense, and is even counter to the timeline. This was pointed out below and promised to be fixed for this release.
Telegram of Hunters death pretty much announces malpractice and demands final payment. This reads as "Please sue us and settle up". Just too crass. But if Leiter is in such financial distress, why would he expose himself to Hunter's medical costs?
Why would Court make accusations against Leiter? If she's the guilty one far better to play it quiet, if not are we expected to think these allegation true? Also if anonymous wouldn't it be typed?...See more

Very nice work! It was great for my running of Crimson Letters. The players loved all the extremely detailed handouts. I found some minor details (well... my very meticulous players found them...)

SPOILER ALERT FOR ALL THE POSSIBLE PLAYERS
.
.
- Leiter wrote h2, h3, h9. h3 writings is not consistent with h2 and h9. It is useful to uniform them to teach the player to play attention to details (foreshadowing the possible h15).
- h10. On the bottom is written "Treatment Pplan"
- h4. The date of birth of Leiter is not consistent with the scenario runned in the 1920. I think it's age should be increased to at least 38 years.
- h4. In "Brief history of the occurrence" the date should be 24/09 and not 25/09 (even though my player used this detail to point the fact that the doctor made some errors so maybe Weathcroft was hiding something)

- as a suggestion: insert an element linking the Hibb's Roadhouse. For example a foldable/buildable...See more

First off, I love these. They're awesome. Second, I've found a couple issues with dates versus the adventure's timeline.
Example, Handout 2 shows Hunter being committed and the break in on the 16th, while the adventure has the 17th. Handout 3 shows Autopsy on the 27th instead of the 24th. Handout 10 shows the patient commit on the 19th and not the 17th.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
