Over the years I've created physical deckplan posters for most of the ships in my Future Armada and Armada Codex product lines. Included in this product is a digital version of one of my posters for use in gaming via computer or with a table-top projector. These are 24x36 inch jpeg images at 150 dpi. There's one image for the front of the poster and one for the back. They are at 1 inch = 5 feet scale with a grid built into the floor.

This project presents the Praetorian-class patrol boat. Based on the old Grendel-class transport, this version is larger, heavily armed, and well equipped for exploration and combat. The ship has seven individual cabins plus eight more bunks divided between a pair of dorms or barracks. This allows for a standard crew of 4 to 7 plus a contingent of marines, passengers, or additional crew.

Praetorian has a small cargo hold, a shuttle bay, and an aft “garage” area. She comes standard with a K-6 passenger shuttle in the bay and a Stratos 7000 air car in the garage. Other amenities include a brig, tactical information center, and techshop with a medical table. Weapons range from a trio of turrets, two large front-mounted guns, to side-mounted torpedo launchers. All told, this is a formidable ship well suited to extended patrol and policing duties in the hands of the authorities – or as a ship of exploration, adventure, or piracy in the hands of civilians.

An additional 40x36 inch image of just the map (without the labels) is also included. This is on a plain dark background with all parts of the map aligned to the same grid, which may be more convenient for use in VTT programs.

I wish DriveThru's image upload tool worked.

These ships are from the "Praetorian" issue of the 0-hr Armada Codex, also for sale at DriveThruRPG. That product details the interior areas of the ship and provides a sample history and generic stats. It also include miniature-scale deckplans (on a plain white background) broken into pages for printing.

Demo documents and sample art for every 0-hr ship and station is available at 0-hr.com .

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
