Perfect is a game about criminals within a Dystopian society. It’s about what makes them tick, the crimes they commit, the goals they strive for, and the persecution they may well face.

Perfect is an indie story game, with a system designed to tell a very specific type of story. It uses only a handful of six-sided dice. Comes with three versions: single pages (160 pages including covers), facing pages, printer-friendly facing pages.

You’ll like this game if: you want to fight the man (but understand that it might hurt), you adore the rebel spirit, you like intensely antagonistic games, you want to tell stories about mindfucking hypnotists, you want to tell stories about secret societies, you want a rigidly-structured game.

“It’s like Kafka and Charlotte Bronte had children, and those children wrote Blade Runner.” -Malcolm Craig, author of Cold City & Hot War

What I like about Perfect most is that it really knows what it’s about. You’re all playing criminals, but your crimes are automatic — you don’t try to commit crimes, you commit crimes. Rebellion, ultimately, is the easy part. It’s afterwards where the game puts its full weight and attention, as play and system revolve around the questions of “Do you get caught?” and “What do they do to you?” Rebellion against the Dystopia is rarely done so clearly.
-Fred Hicks, author of Don’t Rest Your Head & The Dresden Files RPG

“Listen, Perfect is one of my 3 or 4 favorite games of all time. At a time when I was pretty much giving up gaming Perfect reminded me what good gaming and good game design was. It’s awesome, and totally worth your time. Whatever your favorite game is, I’m pretty sure Perfect is better.”
-Jake Richmond, author of Panty Explosion & Ocean

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
