Twilight Edge
by Sean H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/18/2023 17:55:58

An absolutely wonderful fan supplement for Hunter: The Vigil. This book is 87 pages long, with the majority of the content being a long series of fully realized horrors to either inspire a storyteller or to slot directly into your game. Each monster has basic description, appearance, a full stat block, and storyteller hints to help you figure out how to run it. The monsters run the gambant from traditional folk creatures, to some really deeply creepy stuff like the "Piteousus" which will leave your Hunters horrified at what they have dug up. The book also contains a new compact which is well written, but doesn't take up too many pages, as well as some Mysterious Places, and finally a write-up of some new Slasher. The layout of the book is professional and the writing is well edited (I only caught a single typo on my first read through). This is basically the ideal other fan supplements for HtV should be looking at.

I had lost my original Silent Striders tribe book some time ago during a move. I felt incomplete in the collection not having it. Sadly the original was not in physical format but this revised edition is faithful to the original.

Koldunic Sorcery Remastered
by Kamil T. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/07/2023 04:53:29

I am proud that so far I managed to buy all parts of Shadowfall, which gives me a picture of the entire collection (At least for the part that is released).

Some of the disciplines are really interesting and I like them, some are confusing (this is probably due to the fact that I would imagine their adaptations to V5 differently), but in general they are all good.

An interesting apk is that now each Discipline has its own Bonus and Bane and that they are all unified using one Template. Sometimes you just have to read carefully to understand some nuances. What's interesting is that the max Power/Discipline level is tied to Blood Potency, which makes Older Vampires have more of an advantage over younger ones, as it should be.

(Part Up... Is a general Review of the entire Series, so it will appear in any review I write)

When I saw Koldunic Sorcery Remastered, I was extremely happy, because it's one of the things I've been waiting for. You can see a lot of work and reaching for sources. Ways are quite classic because Fire, Earth, Air and Water but with a big mix of Krainas that appeared in V20 DA, which I really like. However, I'm a bit disappointed that there isn't a Way of Spirit/Genus Loci that gave the original Koldunic Sorcery a really strong ace up its sleeve and was closely related to the Lore of this Blood Magic.

I'm also not entirely convinced that Tzimisce who use "Strength" to subjugate spirits are at a loss. Originally, the Kolduns ruled their lands using Iron Fist (including the Spirits living in these lands), so it's a bit of a pity that in this iteration they have it much worse than those who try to live with spirits in harmony or symbiosis.

Anyway... All done well. Introducing a lot of new things that will definitely be used in my sessions. I am also looking forward to Thaumaturgy.

I don't like the new look at Quietus. I totally get the idea and find the execution good for the premise... But I don't feel it at all. Ingenious Poisons I find a hit, it gives some toys for the Assamites and somehow is close to the original assumptions of Quietus ... But Curses? I kind of understand where it comes from and I can argue for myself why it was added...

But as I wrote above, I don't feel the whole thing. After all, this is a new look at Discipline. With new, interesting assumptions and mechanics. People who like Assamites (Or playing Assassins) will definitely be able to appreciate it.

Serpentis... It's good that it came back as Self Discipline and not as Amalgam. Interesting new approach to Discipline and adding their own Blood Magic to the Setites... Or more like bringing it back to V5 and giving it a new look, closer to Egyptian Roots.

Moving on to this specific product: I was most interested in Blood Magic (Including Necromancy, Abyss and Others, of course), but to have everything adjusted to myself, in one template and matching, of course I also bought this one. Much more interesting and better done than in the original V5. It's worth having.

It's hard for me to comment constructively, because I didn't like the whole thing. Sometimes it's too strong, sometimes... I don't know how to comment on it, because I can't quite say WHAT EXACTLY DOESN'T FIT FOR ME.

Still, the work you put into it is commendable.

Moving on to this specific product: I was most interested in Blood Magic (Including Necromancy, Abyss and Others, of course), but to have everything adjusted to myself, in one template and matching, of course I also bought this one. An interesting, unconventional approach to the Discipline, which in this case has only two powers ... And the rest are "Changes" that are introduced on the object on which the discipline is used. It gives a lot of room for the ST and the Player to show off and is also a good way out if someone wants to invent their own Body Changes.

It's good that the Tzimisce got their Discipline back too and they are not forced to have Protean (Where Vici was really poor and ill-conceived. E.g. Armor for Vampires in V5 is useless, but in the first version you could get one for example for Zulo Form. I recommend it to everyone who wants to play Tzimisce and have a little more fun with their unique discipline.
