Apocalypse the Risen Campaign Setting (PF1e)
by Anthony B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/07/2020 22:50:58

Want a picture book or campaign? Well, why not both? The art in this book is fantastic and my favorite thing about it – it's worth it for the art alone.

The characters and enemies aren't typical like other campaigns. I really like the splicer for example, because you wouldn't expect it in an apocalyptic setting. The storytelling really immerses you in the world and it really helps you understand what's going on.

The campaign covers everything and has plenty of detail to go onward – to adventure! If you want a new experience give this game a try and you won't be disappointed!

Hi Anthony, Thank you so much for the kind review! We really pride ourselves on some stellar artists from all over the world and a world class layout wizard Simeon Cogswell. We love that you see that quality. Regarding the Splicer, isn't Ruby (Splicer iconic) awesome! Raven Mimura did an amazing job with the iconics and Ruby just comes to life with pop culture flare. There's so many narrative gems, we hope you have a wonderful time exploring the world of Apocalypse the Risen and the Worlds of the Portal multiverse. Sincerely, Donaven - Rusted Portal Games
Apocalypse the Risen Campaign Setting (PF1e)

Apocalypse The Risen is a great product. It is unique among 3rd party products in that it is completely independent from all of the feats, races, classes, and everything else from official and 3rd party sources. This radical design means that Apocalypse The Risen is probably not for every table. While you probably could drop in features from other sources, the authors' recommendation to only use AtR and limited core material allowed them to take a very different direction than you usually see. It is defined as much by the races and classes it includes as it is by the lack of high-fantasy trappings.

I'd say the mechanical theme running throughout the book is "almost familiar." You can look at something and say "that's almost a tiefling" or "that's almost a paladin," but everything is built from the ground up specifically for a post-apocalyptic setting in which angels have fallen, demons risen, and the very depths of Purgatory shaken to their core. In lieu of a traditional fantasy setting, this game unequivocally takes place on Earth, in some hybrid lovechild of Constantine and The Walking Dead.

Apocalypse the Risen is built for people who want a break from the usual. Buy it if you want a gritty, survivalist game with low magic that's incredibly well-written. You won't find anything else like it.

Hi Jacob, Thank you so much for the review! We really enjoyed just how closely you nailed the influencers and design intent. Super validating and humbling! Thank you for enjoying Apocalypse the Risen and letting others know, we really appreciate it. Looking forward to bringing more related products to market. We plan to roll out a PF-specific adventure next month while the AtR 5E version is deep in development. Cheers and happy gaming! Donaven - Rusted Portal Games
