The Village of Ensington

This is a great little Starter town for a new campaign. You can plop it into any fantasy setting of your choosing and go wild. The Village of Ensington is simple yet full of great NPCs and plot hooks to keep your young PCs busy for a while. This product has background of the area, details of the village, a map of the area, detailed NPCs and plot hooks to the other modules available from this publisher. AT-1: The Village of Ensington (This supplement)

  • ONA-1 The Secret of Ypress Swamp (Lvl 1-3)
  • ONA-2 The Cavern of Tamilan (Lvl 1-3)
  • ONA-3 Trouble in the Moorewood (Lvl 3-5)
  • ONA-4 Horror at Milltown (Lvl 3-5)

You can play these other One Night Adventures (ONA) in any order and they do not necesarrily link together, besides the Villiage itself being in the area and the plot hooks that can be usde in the village. I added a few other adventures of my own to these and made a splended little mini campagn to run in my own home grown world. The Village is in a location between two trade roads an a river, a swamp to the SW, forests to the north & south, and mountains to the east. Perfect! With a smidge of imagination from the DM, on this area, the PCs will soon have a home.

One of the main roads by the village, is the Road to Raiderspoint, a big town of notorious repute. This leads into the author's next set of adventures and area called "The Road to Raiderspoint" where once your PCs reach level 5, is a good place to continue their adventures.

I highly recommend this product and the first four ONA adventures. I definately plan on getting the "The Road to Raiderspoint" series when my players make it through this area!

Valley of the Gilded Tower (5E)

What a great little one night adventure this is! A great followup to "Masque of the Worms"!

The adventure is well though out and can be played right after Masque of the Worms, as a series or really by itself. I feel my PCs had a bit more of an attachment by by playing Masque of the Worms first.

In my group, I ran ran Massque as their second adventure and then ran a few other sessions. Almost two weeks, in game time, had passed since the Masque session, and I ran this little gem. My PCs were hired for for a job on an nearby island, but had to wait a few days for their newemployer to get ready and for the boat to arrive. I slipped in this adventure in as a 'while you wait' adventure.

Baron Rennet had been putting up with his haunting for 2 weeks by this time and was paranoid and losing it mentally. The PCs had helped him before with finding his wife (in Masque of the Worms), so he call on them again to take her remains to her family buriel ground. The PCs of course said "Sure, we have a few days before we leave town anyway.."

The Module is well laid out and we played it in a 4 hour session. It can be done quicker than this, but my group roleplays a lot. You can pretty much play it as written. It is in the right order, has great descriptions and you just fluff a little with your own world setting to complete the description. This can be run in any fantasy setting, but be sure there is a place for an over grown wooded valley, where the bulk of this adventure takes place. You do need to describe the forest/brushy, unkept area with lots of wierd looking weeds/flowers, to your players very well as they get closer to the tower. Assuming they are alive at the end of the adventure, you can explain the difference thay see, for full impact of the adventure.

The adventure is well paced, has maps that you can print out, a great story and good ending. I highly recommend this adventure as a nice stand alone, plug & play adventure, or a follow up to 'Masque of the Worms'. GMs, you dont need a lot of prep at all.

Shadows of Lastwatch Keep (5E)

A very good one-shot! And as others have said, this could be the start of a campaign. Snarg and Iggle will be a hoot to play as NPCs in the adventure. I may try to run this Adventure at our local Con in July as it will be fun, fast paced and leave it open ended for more Drow adventures.... I think the players will leave the table with a "That was fun... I want to play the next adventure too.." feeling.

My only gripe is a minor editing one that is probably just me, but the author designed the lay out for just a single sided print out, if you print it out. All the page numbers, the fading of the pages and the bar, all happen on the right side. If you duplex print, like I do, it looks wierd.

I hope there is a follow up adventure!

These are fantastic! I bought the actual cards and they add a very fun element the game when a mage fumbles a spell. They are generic enough for a GM to apply to any game system they are playing (5e, Pathinder, Arrowflight, etc) I highly recommend a set of these!

Has your normal GM suddenly cancelled out for the night's game? Are you a GM that has a few of your players missing for the night and want to do a side trek for this weeks game? Perhaps you were extra busy this week and didn't get much prep time and need an quick idea for tonight's game? How about an introductory adventure to get the campaign going?

How many of you GM's out there have asked "Another town, how can I make this one exciting?" or "I need something to bring all the PC's together, to start my new campaign"

DwD's "Of Towns and Heroes" is your answer!

In this handy little supplement for BareBones Fantasy or any fantasy game is 100 ideas and plot hooks for a nights adventure or could be the start of something bigger. You can roll a d100 or simply choose something you like. There are 10 detailed maps to go along these adventure hooks that you can plop anywhere in your campaign world.

Here is just a partial example to give you an idea of the goodies in this book. "As the heroes walk through town, a silhouette blots out the sun. Everyone looks up to see a wyvern carrying a maiden in its claws fly by, heading towards a nearby mountain. A large key drops from the maiden and lands imbedded in the cobblestones by a hero. Dare they head into the mountains to face a wyvern and its foul master to save the maiden?......."

The book is designed to help out a GM with their adventures. You might get a one night sidetrek, a mini campaign, a new home town for your PC's or a full blown campaign out of this book. You certainly will get a fun adventure!

I highly recommend this gaming aid to all GM's out there!

Now if you will excuse me, I have a wyvern to kill and a beautiful maiden to rescue.....

Flesh & Blood - BBFRPG Accessory
Publisher: DwD Studios
by Brian J. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 05/14/2013 09:19:12

An Excellent supplement to the BareBones Fantasy rules!

The original BBF rules has only the 4 basic races for the players to play as characters. With this supplement they give you 27 races to play (this includes the original 4). You get a page of description, preferences, attitudes towards other races and game master tips for each race. This is followed by a page with a nice picture of the race and a quick list of racial bonus.

I highly recommend this for all BBF players and GMs, as well as to any fantasy RPG gamer as a guide to how simple you can layout a game supplement.

DwD Studios continue to impress me on how simple a gaming system, supplement or adventure can be created.
