A very good story and hook dice rolled generator for Sci-fi adventures. I highly recommend this for $1.99. I use it enough that I have printed it out. It is original enough, with enough choices to generate good ideas, if not totally unique. Every major cliche is available to remix in the generator.

This is a good product for a GM already comfortable with turning good ideas into a session, but who just needs some fresh ideas. The tables present combinations I would not have thought up myself, and that's exactly what I want out of this type of product - good ideas that my players won't recognize as my usual inventions. Running the tables generates from 2-5 adventure locations plus a "grand finale" idea, and a couple of lines of detail about each location. Typical results are about half a page or less written out, and that's enough for a good on-the-fly GM to run a whole session from without further work, or it makes a good starting place for the kind of GM who likes to do more prep work.

I haven't gamed in over 25 years and and am just now coming back to the hobby and bringing my two sons along with me. The AIF is great because often times I don't have time to work up a Star Frontiers or Savage World scenario or just don't have the creative juices flowing. This is exactly what I need. I'm also a professional corporate trainer and speaker by trade. It's amazing how many of the plots just conjure up a lot of ideas that I could use in settings other than RPGs! Great job DwD!

The Adventure Idea Factory does exactly what it sets out to do. It gives GMs a quick and easy way to create a framework for their SciFi game. Whether you need a one off for a side quest or are looking to set up an entire campaign, the AIF will give you the basics with just a few die rolls.

With 17 pages of pure gaming usefulness, the AIF helps you map out the areas your adventure will take place in. Then it comes up with some helpful descriptors of these areas to give the players a decent picture of where they are. Next comes the primary objective - what the players are after, the big picture. Then, the primary obstacle(s). Last but in the scheme of things, not least at all, the final encounter. Who or what will be standing in the way of the party completing their mission? Providing some quick instructions for putting everything together finishes off this book.

The AIF is a well laid out book with interesting and attractive artwork. Another nice feature is that the PDF is completely bookmarked, making it very easy to find various sections.

Generating new and interesting plot lines for Sci Fi settings can be hard. If you worry your getting into a rut, are time poor or just looking for a way to spice things up then this may be just what the medical hologram ordered! This polished product from DwD studios allows GM's with Sci Fi based campaigns to rapidly create novel adventure ideas and plot lines. Its simple but surprisingly rich table based generators are fun to use and I have found this product to be an asset to my gaming. Perhaps more importantly it represents the much anticipated entry of DwD studios into the market and augers well for the the upcoming launch of the d100 system and the FrontierSpace game. This is the must have accessory for serious Sci Fi gamers this summer.

Not your average “adventure seeds” product, the “Adventure Idea Factory” offers a thorough, well-conceived system for randomly generating a complete adventure plan for any sci-fi RPG. The book offers explanations of at least a substantial paragraph for each element listed on the various tables. Sidebars tracing “Larry’s” experiences using the tables help to illustrate the process.

I’d never heard of DwD Studios before receiving a review copy of this product (which appears to be their first), and “Adventure Idea Factory” makes a very good first impression. I don’t need much help coming up with plots for fantasy RPG sessions, but I look forward to using the “Adventure Idea Factory” to help me think through adventures for the Star Wars Saga Edition adventures I run for my sons and their friends. (The guy on the front cover even looks like the animated Clone Wars version of Obi-Wan Kenobi.) Note that the tables use d% and d10 rolls, but there is no system crunch associated with constructing an adventure using the “Idea Factory.” Stories constructed using this tool could equally well be used for Star Wars (d6, d20, Saga, whatever), Star Frontiers, Traveller, or whatever system you prefer.

In addition to its usefulness, the “Adventure Idea Factory” is attractively presented and fun to read. There are a few little errors that need polishing. For example, Bertrand Russell’s name is misspelled in the epigram, ellipses consistently lack their leading space, and “in medias res” is misspelled as “en-media-res.” Such errors are few and far between, and don’t reduce the system’s utility at all, but still should have been caught in editing. On the other hand, the PDF is very helpfully bookmarked, a feature that some publishers forget to include even in lengthier PDFs.

A handy tool for those times when you have players but no adventure prepared, or even when you just need a little creative boost when trying to write a scenario. This PDF is a collection of tables that a GM can roll on to generate the area, primary objective, primary obstacle, and final encounter of an adventure. Once these are generated (or chosen, if you wish), you will have a framework for a plot that just needs to be fleshed out with some fine details. Even simply browsing the lists can inspire new story ideas, if you are not the sort of person who can find their muse in randomly generated elements.

The tables have a sci-fi slant to them, but they could also be used for fantasy or other genres by swapping out some of the entries in the tables (starport, enemy robot, etc.) Get it, print out a hardcopy, and put it in your gaming binder!

I really like this product.

It is meant to help in those times when you really need an idea for a game, and nothing is coming to you. This should help you get your creative juices flowing. You roll to get a location for your adventure, flesh it out a little, and then figure out what the characters are going to be doing there.

It is pretty straight forward and should be able to help you in a pinch. It is geared towards Science fiction games, with spaceships and moons serving as the items you are presented with but there is no reason you couldn't work it to fit whatever setting you are playing in. That being said, there is a lot of text here that describes stuff and a GM running a space opera style game could surly benefit from it.

the bad part is, sadly, it doesn't do all the work for you. This is meant to give you a solid frame for your adventure that you can then go back and fill in the blanks on. Having used things like this in the past, i know that sometimes that just isn't going to be enough. Still this handles it better than a lot of adventure generators I've seen. Very little artwork, but what art there is, is pretty high quality.
